Slow Cooker Macaroni Cheese | Slow Cooker Recipes NZ | Easy Slow Cooker Recipe

Serves 4
Cook on low for 2 to 2-1/2 hours or on high for about 1 hour

When my nephew and niece come for the occassional day in the school holidays, when it's cooler, we like to make something hot for lunch.  Their mum tells me that if they've had a hand in helping me make the meal, they are more willing to eat it!

Macaroni Cheese is their favorite, and it's super easy in the crock pot!  And it's a great way of using up a little bit of this and that in the fridge, a few extra cooked vege and or a little bit of cold meat, tuna, added in time heat through throroughly, makes the dish unique each time you make it - and helps stretch it out to feed more too,  as necessary.

This is a one pot meal - or the basis for one - the whole family will enjoy!

Slow Cooker Macaroni Cheese

1/4 Cup flour
1 tspn salt
1/4 tspn pepper
2 Tbsp minced onion flakes
1/2 tspn paprika
3 Cups milk
1 Cups grated cheese
2 Cups uncooked macaroni

Add the first 5 ingredients into a saucepan.  Whisk in the milk gradually, keep whisking until no lumps remain.  Heat and stir until boiling and thickened.

Add cheese and uncooked macaroni, stir to combine.  Turn into 3-1/2 quart or 3.5L slow cooker, cover and cook on low for 2 to 2-1/2 hours or on high for about 1 hour.

Makes 4 cups.
