Slow Cooker Beef - Chilli Mince

Beef mince, red kidney beans in a savour tomato chilli sauce combine to create wonderful flavours - and welcoming aromas for hungry families to come home to!

Serves 4
Cook on low for 3 hours or high for 2 hours

This mince recipe is great in the warmer months with tacos or tortillas, as well as to serve with either mashed potato or over rice when the weather calls for heartier food.

300g quality minced beef
1 Tbsp Bisto
1 Tbsp dried garlic granules
3 Tbsp tomato paste
1 tspn dried Italian herbs
½ tspn ground cumin
½ tspn ready to use minced chilli
400g can diced tomatoes in juice
2 x 400g cans red kidney beans or 3 cups of freshly cooked or thawed red kidney beans

Use a fork to dollop little chunks of mince into the slow cooker.
Sprinkle Bisto over meat and then add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine.
Cook and cook on low for 3 hours or high for 2 hours.

This recipe is a great mid-week meal. It is very quick and easy to prepare – and as the cooking time is so short, you may even be able to get it in the slow cooker and get it cooked in the evening, and put it in the fridge before you go to bed. Wonderful! The next day the flavours would have matured and of course, reheating the mince is much faster than starting from scratch.

See previous post about Slow Cooker Beans to learn how to cook the red kidney beans in your slow cooker – and save yourself some cash! You should get about 3 meals for 4 people from a 500g bag of dried red kidney beans – compare the price of a bag of beans to 3 cans of beans, you'll soon see why I say my slow cooker saves me money!
